My Book Recommendations on Data Science via Victor X Wong

This is a book list recommended by Victor X Wong. Most of them were recommended to me or used by me at some point. I will generate my list of books one day. But here is a good start if you are looking for something other than online courses!

WHY: A short and easy-read which works well for starters and aspiring data scientists and data analysts. The book is presented in an interview style (Listed questions are asked followed by answers from notable data scientists and analysts from major companies such as Linkedin, Facebook, Cloudera, Yelp & more).

Introductory Books (Data Science):

1)The Field Guide To Data Science

WHY: A cross between technical and non-technical terms are used which makes it a decent read for the intermediate-level tech readers. From explanatory terms on what,why and how data science works to diving into models and processes – this book serves as a great resource to understanding more about the field without any solid prior coding/programming skills. Also, the visuals in this book is amazing (had to say it for I am also an artist).

Learning R:

1)R Programming for Data Science

WHY: To-the-point with solid explanations. R is currently and likely to be the most used programming language for data science.

2)R Graphics CookBook

Big Data:

WHY: A great explanation to big data, dating back to its history of how big data came about and its application towards various industry. The book is divided into 10 captivating chapters where it draws upon many real-life situations and how big data has affected us, and how its currently affecting us and how we can utilize big data to better our future.

(A recommended read for everyone – we are all information processing creatures, and big data is integrated into our lives)
